The Active Investor Plus Visa is designed to attract experienced, high-net-worth individuals and families who want:

Two Investment Categories

Applicants must choose between two investment options, each with different thresholds and timeframes:

Growth Category

• Minimum NZD $5 million investment in acceptable active investments*;

• Maintain funds in New Zealand for at least 36 months;

• Residency requirement: 21 days in New Zealand over the investment period.​

 Balanced Category

• Minimum NZD $10 million investment in a broader range of acceptable investments†;

• Maintain funds in New Zealand for at least 60 months;

• Residency requirement: 105 days over the investment period; can reduce this with additional eligible investment.

*Acceptable investments must be in NZ-based assets and meet Immigration New Zealand criteria. They can include managed funds, direct business investment, listed equities, bonds, property developments and, for Balanced, philanthropic contributions.
